Randall S. Over, P.E., F.ASCE, ASCE
Randall S. “Randy” Over, P.E., F.ASCE, ASCE President, ASCE Foundation Board Member, and longtime ASCE Foundation supporter, knew from a young age that he was interested in all things civil engineering. As a third generation civil engineer, Randy is one of four Overs that are currently ASCE members.
In 1983, Randy graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University, before beginning his first job at Rackoff Engineers. Throughout the years, he has worked at Finkbeiner, Pettis & Strout (Arcadis), the City of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Randy credits his leadership within the profession to his family, stating, “I’ve been inspired by my family’s tradition of civil engineering leadership, and service... I learned that if you benefit from a profession, you have a duty to give back for those who will come after you.”
His Giving
In 1996, Randy gave a gift alongside his father, R. Stanton “Stan” Over, P.E., F.ASCE, and brother, Thomas M. “Tom” Over, P.E.,M.ASCE. This impact gift supported the new ASCE Headquarters building project in Reston, Virginia, and allowed for a vibrant future for ASCE. Although Randy continues to contribute to the Foundation monetarily, he also shows his support through his dedicated ASCE Foundation Board service. As a Foundation ambassador, Randy states, “Your annual dues are for daily ASCE operations—the right now. What you give to the ASCE Foundation allows for a future... the extra projects that we couldn’t otherwise fund.” Because of the support from members like Randy, the ASCE Foundation can continue to fund and strengthen valuable ASCE programs for the next generation of civil engineers.
